Virtual Outpost serves the needs of local businesses and individuals to build and deploy solutions on the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Macintosh platforms.

Helping people solve their problems is what we do.  So, of course we love hearing that we helped. If our work or information posted on this site solved your problem, or just saved you some time, please leave a comment and let us know.

Walt Sellers is a Senior Contract Software Developer at Virtual Outpost in Oviedo, FL. He started in September 2001 and enjoys working with clients through all phases of the development projects. He has been a software engineer working in commercial software since 1989.

In the Virtual Outpost blog you will find posts related our work and to the computer industry. It could be stuff that was technically interesting, that helps someone solve a problem or that talks about the industry in general. (OK, straight-up plugging ourselves for possible clients.)

Prior to Virtual Outpost, Walt was a Senior Software Engineer at AOL working on the Macintosh and Palm PDA software and Systems Analyst for BellSouth in Desktop publishing applications for Yellow Pages.

While at AOL, Walt developed C and C++ software for 3 versions of AOL clients for PalmOS devices and multimedia libraries for Macintosh. In particular, one email processing library from the Palm project wound up being used by teams on WinCE, PocketPC, Symbian, and SUN computers. While taking a team-lead role for internationalization,  he got to work with people (virtually) around the globe. He was very proud of a letter of praise from the localization department. The resulting code was used to deliver localized apps in many countries, re-branded apps for other companies and the team decided to toss out the in-progress next-version code in favor of re-starting from this much-improved base version.

Walt has been in the software development industry since achieving a Bachelor of Computer Engineering from Auburn University in 1989.

Thank you for considering us for your development needs.
